LAFOLLETTE (WATE) - A Campbell County teenager who's been fighting bone cancer for nearly two years received devastating news last week. The cancer has spread and there's not much more doctors can do.

"They said it has spread a lot, my cancer, and that it's the beginning of the end of my days, so we started a bucket list," Katelyn Norman, 14, said Thursday.

With courage and conviction, Katelyn has set out to make her dreams come true in whatever time she has left.

"The prom. And I want to see Italy," she said. "And I want a day individually with all my brothers and sisters. They need it 'cause it's pretty hard on them."

"You can either have a pity party or you're going to live life and when we leave the hospital, we live life," said Katelyn's mother Erica Nelson. "We just want to give her what she ain't going to see. Just try to fulfill what she wants to do, which isn't much, but it's something to her."

Campbell County High School is planning a prom for Katelyn on Tuesday, March 26. Through Facebook, her friends are urging people to line Fincastle Road in LaFollette with candles at 8 p.m. as she drives home.

"Ecstatic. I can't wait. I can't wait to go," Katelyn said.

The outpouring of support, from friends and strangers, means the world to her.

"I love it. The community has always been such a great help and support to me and my family. It's just great," she said.
