Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre accepted the designation during a ceremony at the school Thursday.
"We had to structure a bridge on the computer. We had to make sure it could withstand the weight of a truck or a car and then make a miniature model out of wood pieces," said Tison.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The L&N STEM Academy has now been named an Apple Distinguished School for its success this school year in using new technology to teach students.
Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre accepted the designation during a ceremony at the school Thursday.
Students say all the technology is helping them learn in new and interesting ways.
"We had to structure a bridge on the computer. We had to make sure it could withstand the weight of a truck or a car and then make a miniature model out of wood pieces, It was a really interesting product and I thought it was really cool," said freshman Thomas-Allan Tison.
The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for schools that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments.
