MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A Hamblen County jury convicted a man Wednesday in connection with the kidnapping and murder of an elderly man.

Gevon Patton was found guilty of especially aggravated kidnapping and criminally negligent homicide in the death of Willie Lee Morgan.

Patton is scheduled for sentencing next Wednesday.

Morgan, who was 94 at the time, was abducted from his home in 2008 and held for ransom.

Police say Morgan was tied to a chair and beaten to death before his left hand was cut off with a butcher knife.

Patton's brother, Anthony, pleaded guilty in 2010, as did co-defendant Jessica Lane.
