NASHVILLE (AP) - A Nashville-based Christian nonprofit is distributing guitars and other musical instruments to aspiring musicians around the world.
Joshua MacLeod told The Tennessean that he got the idea on a mission trip to an orphanage in Malawi a few years ago when he saw a boy strumming a guitar he had created from a gas can and a block of wood. MacLeod said the child was an amateur, but obviously had some talent.
The ministry, Instruments of Joy, has distributed more than 30 instruments since forming last year, according to project director Charlie Smith.
