Mother disappears with child, TBI issues alert for West Tennessee

NASHVILLE (AP) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a mother who is bipolar and off her medication has disappeared with her toddler.

An endangered child alert has been issued in West Tennessee for 16-month-old Landon Cole Barnes. The little boy has blond hair, blue eyes, is 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds.

The TBI says the boy is with 26-year-old Katie Lin Barnes. The agency said Landon's grandfather returned to his home in Parsons to find Katie Barnes had packed her belongings and those of her son and left. She texted her father about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, saying she did not want to live.

The TBI says Barnes was driving a gold 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier and might have been headed to Memphis or Covington.
