Well-known Fountain City man dies from brain cancer

FOUNTAIN CITY (WATE) - Brain cancer has claimed the life of a man who was well-known to shoppers at the Kroger in Fountain City.

Barry Hughes, 46, passed away on Easter Sunday.

Born with cerebral palsy, Barry lived an independent life, working almost 23 years with Kroger.

After Barry found out he had a brain tumor, co-workers collected money for his medical bills and spread the word to customers.

A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Norris Religious Fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family says donations can be made to the Cerebral Palsy Center of Knoxville.
