Memphis police seize ton of marijuana from house

MEMPHIS (AP) - The Memphis Police Department has seized more than a ton of marijuana from a house in the city.

According to The Commercial Appeal, police officials said the haul was worth more than $2 million. Also confiscated were a .357-caliber handgun, Xanax pills and $170,000 in cash.

Police arrested four people Monday, but didn't immediately release their names.

Police Director Toney Armstrong called it "an extremely bad day for the bad guys."

Armstrong said drug trafficking is a "cat & mouse game," and said the police won this time.

Police got a tip that led to the bust, which authorities said was substantial, but not the largest the department has made.
