Board delays vote on proposed Loudon County crematory

Board delays vote on proposed Loudon County crematory

LOUDON (WATE) - The vote to decide whether an empty bank building in Loudon County will be turned into a funeral home crematory has been delayed.

The owners of Click Funeral Home want to put the crematory inside the former United Community Bank location on Highway 72 near Maremont Parkway.

Many people in the community are opposed to the idea.

They voiced their opinions at a public meeting Wednesday, saying the location isn't ideal, especially being so close to other businesses.

Larry Click, the funeral director at Click's Funeral Home, answered many questions about his proposed business at the meeting.

"I want to be part of this community and to try to make this as comfortable for the community," said Click. "I want to build the community a very nice facility that we all can be proud of, and I want them to embrace that too."

The vote has been delayed for 30 days so the board can review it further.

The next discussion will be the first Wednesday in May.
