Kentucky woman flees police during drug arrest, leaving behind 2 children

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WATE) - A Barbourville woman attempted to flee police through a hole in her trailer floor during a drug investigation. During her brief run she left behind her two children, both under the age of eight.

Barbourville and Kentucky State police found Amy Dye hiding under the trailer. She was arrested.

Amy Dye's arrest came shortly after her husband, Larry Dye, was arrested in a Barbourville business parking lot.

The couple face several drug charges.

The investigation and arrests began when an off-duty Barbourville officer noticed Larry Dye and another man carrying a bag from a nearby store. The officer said he saw baggies, pills, cash and cold packs on the seat of Dye's car.

Methamphetamine, prescription medication and marijuana were found in the car.

Following up on Dye's arrest, officers went to the couple's trailer. There they found what they say were ingredients and equipment used to make methamphetamine, as well as other drug paraphernalia and medication.

Social Services staff were called to provide safety for the children.

Meth lab clean up was handled by the Kentucky State Police.
