KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly causing a wreck and then fleeing the scene.

Knoxville police say Charles Bales, 24, was driving near the intersection of Bardon Road and Twining Diver shortly after 7:30 a.m. when he hit another car and then hit a tree.

Bales fled on foot, but was arrested a short time later on Sherbourne Drive after a short chase.

After he is checked out at a hospital, Bales will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and fleeing from officers.

According to police, Bales was impaired by inhaling dust cleaner from an aerosol can.
