Pardee named new executive vice president at TVA

KNOXVILLE (AP) - Charles G. "Chip" Pardee has been named the new executive vice president and chief generation officer of the Tennessee Valley Authority. The announcement at the nation's largest public power supplier was made on Friday by TVA President Bill Johnson.

Pardee will be responsible for optimizing TVA's fleet of power generation resources, including nuclear, hydroelectric, coal, gas and renewables to meet the demand for energy across the Tennessee Valley. He will also oversee the utility's river operations, fuel procurement and power trading operations.

Pardee recently served as chief operating officer at Exelon Generation, 1 of the world's leading power producers.

TVA provides power to 9 million people in parts of 7 southeastern states. The utility is a corporate agency of the U.S. government and receives no taxpayer monies.
