Several road closures planned for Knoxville race weekend


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Due to the Color Me Rad 5K and the Knoxville Marathon, there are several road closures drivers should mind.

The major road closure for the Color Me Rad 5K includes:

  • Neyland Drive from James White Parkway to Lake Loudoun Boulevard.

Organizers expect some 9,000 runners for the Color Me Rad race.

Some of the major road closures for the Knoxville Marathon include:

  • Eastbound lanes of Kingston Pike. The Westbound lanes will be made a 2-lane.
  • Westbound lanes of Kingston Pike from Noelton to Forest Park.
  • Eastbound lanes of Neyland Drive from Lake Loudon to Kingston Pike.
  • Clinch Avenue as well as the Clinch Avenue Bridge from Henley Street to 11th Street.

Marathon officials expect 6,000 runners from all over the world.

The Knoxville Police Department will be on hand during these races, but drivers should give extra time when heading downtown due to heavy weekend traffic.
