Kentucky man shot by police after taking aim at officer


LYNCH, Ky. (WATE) - A man was shot by a Lynch Police Department officer after allegedly aiming a gun at the officer on Friday night, according to Kentucky State Police.

The officer was responding to a domestic disturbance around 9:45 p.m. on West Main Street when he identified a male subject sitting inside of a vehicle outside of the residence.

Upon approaching the vehicle the officer observed that the subject was aiming a shotgun at him. The officer then discharged his service weapon at the perpetrator, hitting him several times.

The suspect was transported from the scene by EMS and later flown to Holston Valley Medical Center for further treatment. His current status is unknown.

No one else involved received any injuries. The suspect's information will not be released until charges are filed.
