Whitley County escapee back in custody

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate is back in custody after escaping from the Whitley County Detention Center.

According to WKYT-TV, 34-year-old Shannon Wynn was picked up by police around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday walking along the side of the road near Interstate 75.

He was taken into custody without incident. Wynn walked away from the center last Monday.

Katherine Wheeler, 39, has been charged with hindering apprehension and second-degree escape for allegedly helping Wynn evade police.

Wynn was arrested in January for second-offense manufacturing meth, endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of controlled substances and for a parole violation.
