KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An event that generated controversy all the way to the Tennessee Statehouse is underway on the University of Tennessee's Knoxville campus.

Sex Week was a hot topic for weeks. Some legislators threatened to pull university budget allocation before the university took away some of its funding for the weeklong series of programs.

Chancellor Jimmy Cheek pulled more than $11,000 in state funding in light of the controversy. An additional $4,000 in student programming money a also removed.

The event kicked off Sunday night with clinical psychologist Megan Andelloux speaking to students.

Topics covered during the week include hookup culture, feeling comfortable in your body, and anatomy.
