PINEVILLE, Ky. (WATE) - Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday following an investigation into several cows being shot on Bell County farms.

Bell County sheriff's deputies charged the teenagers with shooting more than 20 cows on March 27.

The teens are being held in the Adair Juvenile Detention Center. Because of their age they have not been named.

Bell County Sheriff Bruce Bennett says the teens face two felony charges and several misdemeanors.

The owners of the cows said the slaughter was disturbing and devastating.

"Most of them were shot in the face or head somewhere," Carroll Gibbons told 6 News last week.

Gibbons said nearly a dozen of his cows were slaughtered.

Evidence at the scene indicated the suspects used a four-wheeler to reach the cattle.

Bell County Sheriff's Department Deputy Shane Stewart said the suspects drove to several different places to kill cows.

The cows were shot on land leased by the farmers in an industrial park.
