CLINTON (WATE) - Firefighters were called to a motel in Anderson County Thursday after a fire broke out at the business.
The incident happened at the Motel 6 just off of Exit 122, the Andersonville Highway exit, on Interstate 75.
Firefighters climbed onto the roof as flames broke through top of the building and moved along the roofline.
Customers and workers were evacuated from the entire motel.
Clinton Asst. Police Chief Vaughn Becker said the fire started on the outside of the building, but beyond that the cause is unknown.
By 4:15 p.m., fire officials said the fire had been mostly extinguished, but they were continuing to monitor hot spots for potential flare ups.
