ALCOA (WATE) - A man accused of stalking a woman and scaring her so much that she had to take a leave of absence from her job is now behind bars.

Darren Shey Long, 44, turned himself into Alcoa authorities around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The woman, a Knox County school teacher, said she was worried for her life and the safety of her students after getting death threats from Long.

Police say they tried repeatedly to arrest him, but were unable to track him down.

Long is now in custody at the Blount County Jail.
