Maryville police shoot Greenback man during chase, confrontation

MARYVILLE (WATE) - A Greenback man was shot Friday night after threatening to shoot Maryville police.

Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp says officers were responding to a report of a suicidal person in the 2000 block of East Broadway.

When they arrived at the business, a woman told them she couldn't find her boyfriend but had located his car at the store.

Officials found a suicide note inside the store, but they didn't find the man they were seeking, Michael Huskey, 26, of Greenback.
When an officer saw Huskey on the east side of the building a foot chase began.
When confronted, Huskey showed the officers he had a loaded gun. They told him to put the gun down and when he refused, the officers shot at him.
Huskey was hit three times. He was then taken UT Medical Center and was released Saturday.
Huskey is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
