2 charged with attempted 1st degree murder in Crossville home invasion

CROSSVILLE (WATE) -  Two men are being held after a Crossville man was shot Sunday afternoon during a home invasion.

Kencar McGee, 33, was shot in the stomach just before 12:30 p.m. when two men broke into his home on Plateau Road in Cumberland County.

A neighbor came to McGee's aid and took him to a nearby a gas station on Plateau Road before calling 911.

McGee was then airlifted to Erlangler Medical Center in Chattanooga. His condition is unknown.

Danny Billyeu, 36, and Nathaniel Payne, 31, are accused of forcibly entering McGee's home and firing shots.

They are charged with attempted first degree murder and are being held in the Cumberland County Jail.
