MORRISTOWN (WATE) - If you travel and stay at hotels across the country, chances are you have sat in a chair made in East Tennessee.
Daniel Paul Chairs in Morristown focuses on providing custom seating for the churches, hotels and restaurants.
Piece by piece, chairs are put together in the company's Morristown plant. Once complete, many are shipped around the world.
"We supply seating for dining, lodging, restaurants," said President Paul Barile.
The products can be found in several familiar places. "In Nashville, Opryland, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express," Barile said.
Barile worked in the industry years ago, but realized that just too many options were from overseas. So he returned to work, and in 2002 started Daniel Paul Chairs.
He also started making some changes so he could offer a product that could be labeled "Made in the U.S.A."
"Originally I was importing all my products from overseas," he said. "But over the last few years, I have found a product that I can bring here and complete here."
Now that majority of his seating is made here in Tennessee, Barile says quality and customer service has improved, which he says is vital to the hospitality market.
"It demands a faster turnaround than overseas. It demands more attention to detail in fabric applications. We are able to accomplish that by working here in the states, in Tennessee in particularly," Barile said.
Daniel Paul Chairs employees about 30 people at it's Morristown plant.
