Driver leads Knox deputies on high speed chase

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man suspected of hitting a vehicle and then leaving the scene Thursday led Knox County deputies on a high speed chase.

Eddie Wayne Marvin, 61, of Oak Ridge, was after stopped by a deputies on Interstate 40 near the Hollywood underpass in Knoxville and taken into custody.

According to the sheriff's office Marvin was seen by a witness going up to 100 mph. Before he was stopped, deputies clocked him at 70 mph.

Marvin allegedly hit a vehicle on Emory Road in Maynardville before speeding off.

He is charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
