KNOXVILLE (WATE) - This week, restaurant health inspectors found more temperature code violations and noted improper employee hygiene practices.

Lowest Score:

HoneyBaked Ham, 7205 Kingston Pike - Grade: 66

A score below 70 is considered unsanitary by the health department.

At HoneyBaked Ham, a food worker went into the kitchen and started preparing food without washing her hands.

When the inspector checked the temperature of turkey, it was 51 degrees, but 41 and below is the proper cold temperature.

In one of the restrooms, there was a bad problem with one of the toilet - it wouldn't flush.

And bleach was found stored with gloves that employees are supposed to wear.

All chemicals are supposed to be stored in a separate area.

Passing but problems:

The Tomato Head, 7240 Kingston Pike - Grade: 72

Here the inspector found the temperature of sausage and turkey at 51 degrees; again, they should be at 41.

Also at The Tomato Head, the dishwasher was observed loading dirty utensils, running them through the machine, then he forgot to wash as he unloaded the clean utensils and put them away.

Reinspected scores:

Oodles Uncorked, 18 Market Square - Old Grade: 58, New Grade: 86

A few weeks ago, Oodles received a 58. The reinspected grade is a respectable 86.

Top Scores:

  • Sweetery, 9430 S. Northshore Drive - Grade: 97
  • King Tut's Grill, 4132 Martin Mill Pike - Grade: 95
(Don's Note: King Tut's Grill makes the best list with a 95. What an improvement!)
  • Bayou Bay, 7117 Chapman Highway - Grade: 95
  • Pizza Palace, 3132 Magnolia Avenue - Grade: 93
  • Red Robin, 11433 Parkside Drive - Grade: 93
  • Salsarita's, 10919 Parkside Drive - Grade: 92
  • Firehouse Subs, 4419 Western Avenue - Grade: 91

Restaurants with failing grades are usually reinspected within two weeks. The health checks are all unannounced.
