Madisonville crash leaves man dead, others injured


MADISONVILLE (WATE) - A crash in Madisonville left one man dead and 5 others injured last night.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that 28-year-old Amber Maddox was driving a Nissan Altima in the wrong lane on US Highway 411 at a high rate of speed when she collided head on with a Toyota Camry being driven by 21-year-old Jacob Ownby.

Jacob Ownby was killed, his passengers 21-year-old Alex Ownby and a 2-year-old child were both treated and released by UT Medical Center.

Amber Maddox is listed in critical condition along with a 5-year-old child. Another passenger, also a child, was treated and released.

THP reports that Amber Maddox had been drinking at the time of the crash, and that neither of the children in the Nissan were in a child-restraint device or wearing a seatbelt.

Criminal charges are pending at this time.
