KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An adult and two children got out safely Monday night when their North Knoxville apartment building caught fire.

The flames broke out around 7:30 in the apartment at 766 Merchants Drive.

Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the second floor apartment and made its way to the unit's attic.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
