ROGERSVILLE (WATE) - A Hawkins County inmate made a quick dash out of the hospital Tuesday while being treated there.

David Shawn Harris, 37, of Bulls Gap, ran from the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, but was caught a short distance from the building.

Harris had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment by Correctional Officer Bill Henard. The inmate tried to escape when he was allowed to go to the bathroom.

Officer Henard caught Harris outside the hospital.

Harris will have three charges added when he appears Wednesday in Hawkins County General Sessions Court.
