Police arrest suspect linked to multiple armed robberies

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Authorities arrested a man they believe is connected to several armed robberies in Knoxville and Sevierville on Thursday evening.

The Knoxville Police Department arrested Charles Vincent Gray, of Collierville, around 6:30 p.m. in a Kroger parking lot, which is located on the 4400 block of Chapman Highway.

He was unarmed when officers located him, but he was highly agitated and said he would have shot officers if he had brought his gun.

Officials said the suspect was wanted in connection with several armed robberies in Knoxville, including Subway restaurants located on Kingston Pike, Merchants Drive, Broadway Street and the CVS Pharmacy on Western Avenue.  He also is the suspect for a robbery at the Subway in Kodak.

He has been charged with committing multiple crimes in Knoxville and Sevierville.

The Sevierville Police Department and KPD worked closely together to gather information on Gray.

Gray is being held at the Knox County Detention Facility with a $140,000 bond and will face additional charges in Sevier County.
