Heritage High School evacuated temporarily for smoke

MARYVILLE (WATE) - Students and staff at Heritage High School were sent outside to the football field Friday morning as firefighters and school officials searched for the source of smoke in the building.

The building evacuation at 3741 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy. was made as a precaution.

Authorities said reports of smells were evidence of a possible fire from an electrical source.

The school was evacuated shortly after 8:30 a.m.

The source of the smoke was found to be a computer.

Students returned to class just before 10 a.m.
