SEYMOUR (WATE) - Believing they were ripped off, a Seymour couple had given up hope of ever seeing the mattress they ordered nearly four months ago.

"I got my mattress," Sylvia Moore told 6 On Your Side excitedly.

Her magnetic mattress from Bene-fit Health Products finally arrived, two months late.

"It's real soft, it's thick, it ain't a thin thing, it's thick. And it's easy to lay on," Sylvia said.

The Moores watched a video in early January about the health advantages of magnetic mattresses.

Bene-fit Health Products from Georgia had sponsored a dinner party in Sevierville. John and Sylvia Moore and others attended the sales event.

They paid $1,500 upfront on Jan. 2 for a full size mattress. When it had not been delivered by the end of February, Sylvia called the company.

"And all I get is an answering machine or the phone is no longer in service," Sylvia told 6 On Your Side.

We checked the company's website last month. It was disabled.

But a few days ago, a box arrived containing the mattress

"There weren't any notes in the box, no paperwork, no nothing in it. It arrived out of the blue," she said.

"I didn't think we'd ever get it either. We just got the one pillow, we were supposed to get two. I figured that was better than nothing," John Moore said.

Sylvia is pleased with the results of the magnetic mattress and pleased that they didn't lose their money

"I really didn't think we'd get any money back and I didn't think we'd get this," she said.

The Moores said there were at least a dozen other couples who had attended the sales party in January and purchased mattresses. Others have called 6 On Your Side saying their mattresses haven't arrived either.

"Since we got ours, maybe there is hope for them," Sylvia said.

At least for the Moores, Bene-fit Health Products fulfilled its obligation by delivering the mattress that had been paid for in advance.

Sometimes these product dinner parties where you have to pay upfront can be risky. The target audience is often seniors.
