KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Charges will not be filed against the man who shot and killed an armed robber as he left the scene of an incident at an East Knoxville Dollar General store.

John Gill of the Knox County District Attorney's Office said Friday that charges would not be filed against Anthony Smith, the manager of the store.

In February, Smith shot Justin Pierre Jackson as he was fleeing the scene of a robbery in which Jackson made away with money from the store's safe.

Jackson was later tied to several other armed robberies in the area.

Gill said Friday there was not enough evidence to convict Smith in Jackson's death.
