Knoxville man charged with making meth in home


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was arrested Sunday after officers noticed a strong chemical smell coming from his home.

Ricky Lewis, 44, is being held on charges related to manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to Knox County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Hillary Coward, officers were called to the home on Babelay Road around noon for a domestic welfare check.

When the officers noticed an odor coming from the home they decided to investigate.

Two people were found inside and what officer believe were the components of a meth lab.

Lewis is charged with one count each of promotion of and manufacture of the methamphetamine.

The residence on Babelay Road is now quarantined.
