KNOXVILLE (WATE) - It was a tenuous few hours in Farragut Tuesday morning after deputies responded to a call about a suspicious package at a local post office.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office called in the bomb squad to investigate the item at the Farragut Post Office.

According to the U.S. Postal Inspector, a corporate box or package was left on top of a mailbox outside the building.

Deputies couldn't determine if it was suspicious upon first screening, so they used a remote device to open the package.

The package was then determined to be safe.

The item was marked "Return to Sender" and had been left on the mailbox by a local citizen.
