Knox County Schools security officer placed on leave after being involved in shooting

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A security officer with the Knox County Schools is on administrative leave after Knoxville police say he was involved in a shooting over the weekend.

The incident happened Saturday morning just after 1 a.m. at the Elks Lodge on Holston Drive.

Police said it appears Rondal Capshaw shot Jefferson Grady one time in the upper groin area after an argument inside the lodge moved outside the building.

Grady was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

No charges have been filed.

A spokesperson with the school district said Capshaw has worked for the Knox County Schools since 2008.

He's on leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
