KNOXVILLE (WATE) - It's been two years since the ABC show "Secret Millionaire" put Knoxville's The Joy of Music School in the national spotlight. Now, the charity has been chosen by clothing retailer Urban Outfitters to receive a portion of the profits from their store's grand opening in Knoxville.

Executive Director Frank Graffeo said a higher profile, both nationally and locally, has nearly doubled the number of kids they can reach with free instruments and private music lessons.

"Since 'Secret Millionaire' aired, we've picked up about 75 new students and that's a lot because remember they're coming in every week. And that means we also picked up about 45 new teachers," Graffeo said.

And the donations have continued too.

"They reran 'Secret Millionaire' about a year ago and they ran it in other countries, so we got financial donations from Europe. A gentleman emailed me from Mexico City, an engineer, he says, 'I have a beautiful saxophone I'd like to send you.' I said, 'We'd love to have it.' So we get this shipment from Mexico with a saxophone in it. It was terrific!" he said.

Then last month, another surprise, this time from national retailer Urban Outfitters. The company is getting ready to open their first store in Knoxville.

"They said we'll be donating 10% of our sales for the first three days of the new store to The Joy of Music School, and that's huge," Graffeo said.

The clothing chain won't say how they chose the school, only that it exemplifies their brand.

"This kind of support helps us buy instruments for kids, it helps us upgrade the quality of our instruments, buy the music," he said.

Urban Outfitters opens Thursday morning at 10 a.m. on Market Square. Again, 10% of sales from this Thursday, Friday and Saturday will go to The Joy of Music School.
