TELLICO PLAINS (WATE) – Tonight things are not looking good for a 3-year-old fighting stage 4 cancer.

Brooklyn Shaw was diagnosed with neuroblastoma exactly a year ago. In December, the family thought she was in the clear. But this week they found out the cancer has relapsed, and this time the outlook isn't good.

Now the community of Tellico Plains is coming together to make a dream come true.

Wednesday evening Brooklyn was having a blast smiling and playing with her twin sister and cousins. But we're told what makes her even happier is a Disney movie.

"Mickey Mouse," she said, smiling, as her mother asked her the name of her favorite one.

The cartoon characters helped her get through months of grueling cancer treatments.

"She had a lot of chemo, stem cell transplants, surgeries, some of the things that have calmed her down are Disney movies, most of all," explained her mother Heiley Roberts.

The family thought the worst was behind them in December. But this week, some tests came back positive.

"The bone marrow cells showed there was cancer growing back in her bone marrow. So her cancer is aggressive. The doctor said it would probably spread," Roberts said.

Because it's hard to say if Brooklyn will see another spring, the community has stepped in, so Brooklyn can visit the land of her beloved friends.

"I said they want to go to Disney, and we can raise that money. So the next day it started. Family and friends helped," said Casey Edwards, who's helping organize the effort.

On Saturday, there will be fundraisers held in Tellico Plains. You can also donate online. Or send checks to Casey Edwards, 672 Reliance Rd. Tellico Plains, TN 37385.
