DA blames drugs for son's arrest

CLARKSVILLE (AP) - A prosecutor in Clarksville is blaming drug abuse for his son's arrest in connection to a home invasion.

District Attorney General John Carney Jr. told The Leaf-Chronicle that the charges of robbery and kidnapping against John Carney III are an example of where prescription drug abuse can lead.

John Wesley Carney III was booked into the Montgomery County Jail early Friday, the final of four men arrested in a Thursday afternoon robbery involving a Fort Campbell soldier.

Police say four men forced their way into the apartment of Darnell Jones, bound him with duct tape and threatened him with a knife over money and weapons. Police said that Jones complied out of fear for himself and his children, ages 4 and 2.
