Morristown crash kills 2, injures 2

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Two people are dead and another two injured after a collision in Morristown.

Officers of the Morristown Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 12:50 p.m. on Sunday.

Reports say that a Nissan Sentra was being driven eastbound on East Morris Blvd when the driver lost control exiting a curve in the road, causing the car to cross over a grass median and into the westbound lanes.

A Chevrolet Envoy traveling west struck the passenger side of the Nissan, killing both occupants.

The passenger of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was flown to Johnson City Medical Center before succumbing to his injuries.

Both occupants of the Envoy were transported to Morristown Hamblen Emergency Room for injuries they received.

The names of those involved in the crash are being held until family is notified.

Officer Craig Jarnigan of the Morristown Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash to determine if speed and other factors played a role in causing the collision to occur.
