JAMESTOWN (WATE) - If you're looking for a place to take the family on a quick trip without spending a ton of money in gas, Jamestown is an ideal spot for a One Tank Trip.

Located on the Cumberland Plateau halfway between Nashville and Knoxville, Jamestown has lots to do and see.

The city is home to Highland Manor Winery, the oldest winery in the state of Tennessee.

You can tour Highland Manor any day of the week, learning how they turn grapes from their very own on-site vineyards into 15 varieties of award-winning wines, the very same way they have for more than 30 years.

"This is our most popular wine. We're pretty much known far and wide for our Muscadine," said Highland Manor Winery Owner Butch Campbell.

The vineyards are a great place to bring a picnic, which Campbell says people come here to do a lot on the weekends.

They also offer free wine tastings every day as well, no reservation needed.

Their famous Muscadine wine is a must-taste.

Campbell says spending the day at Highland Manor is all about relaxation.

"We'll give them a good time while they're here and it's a nice place to just slow down and enjoy the experience," said Campbell.

For a unique, history-rich place to spend the night on your trip to Jamestown, be sure to check out the Old Allardt Schoolhouse.

Built in 1900, it was recently converted from a classroom into a two bedroom, two bathroom lodge.

It's a one-of-a-kind, perfect place to stay on your getaway.

You can kick back, and take in the history of the area at the same time.

"I can't imagine anyone wanting to stay at a hotel when they could have the whole schoolhouse and the porches and the wonderful sunsets," said Lowanda Gernt, owner of the Old Allardt Schoolhouse.

Jamestown has lots more to offer to visitors, especially for people who love the outdoors.

To book a stay at the Old Allardt Schoolhouse, visit their website or call Gernt at 931-879-8056.
