One person dies in Grainger County accident


BEAN STATION (WATE) - One person was killed after two cars collided on Highway 25E near Bean Station Tuesday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, driver Rachel Knight, 45, of Morristown was turning onto Peninsula Drive from Highway 25E in a Chevy Impala around 2 p.m.

Driver Nile M. Dettor Jr., 55, of Mount Carmel, was traveling north on 25E in a Jeep Wrangler Sport.

Investigators say Knight pulled in front of Dettor's Jeep and her Impala was struck in the passenger side.

Her passenger, Darrell Evans, 58, of Bean Station, was killed. Knight was also injured.

Dettor Jr. and his passenger, Susan Dettor, 48, were not hurt.

THP said charges were pending in the case.
