Deputies search for Union County assault suspect considered 'armed and dangerous'

MAYNARDVILLE (WATE) - Union County authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of assault.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Blackburn, 25, assaulted the homeowner of a residence on Grizzell Farm Lane in Union County around 10:45 p.m. on May 8.

They say Blackburn also took the homeowner's truck, a red 1994 Dodge pickup with cardboard inserts to replace a broken window and a 12 gauge shotgun.

Blackburn is now facing several charges including aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and vandalism.

Deputies say Blackburn is considered armed and dangerous, anyone with information is urged to contact Union County authorities.
