Greene County robbers fake car trouble to steal from good samaritans

GREENEVILLE (WATE) - Greene County deputies are looking for the three people who robbed victims at gunpoint after they stopped to help them with car trouble.

The incident happened Saturday around 6 p.m. on Asheville Highway.

Two men and a woman were sitting on the side of the highway with the hood up on a late 80s or early 90s GMC Jimmy or Chevy Blazer.

The woman was holding what appeared to be a baby and was trying to flag down help under the pretense of car trouble.

When a vehicle stopped to help, both male suspects approached the victims with handguns and demanded money.

All three suspects then drove away in the SUV.

The first suspect is described as a white male with dirty blonde hair, about 5'9" tall and between 19 and 20 years old.

The second suspect is described as a white male with a stocky build, about 5'10" tall and between 20 and 25 years old.

The third suspect is a white female with dirty blonde hair.

Anyone with information on this crime or the suspects is asked to call the Greene County Sheriff's Department at 423-798-1800.
