KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police officers are searching for a suspect after a West Knoxville fast food restaurant was robbed Thursday night.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, the Wendy's on Kingston Pike near Gallaher View Road was robbed around 9:30 p.m.

The restaurant's manager told officers the suspect walked through an unlocked door in the rear of the store, entered the office, and showed a black handgun.

He demanded money and fled the business with an unknown amount of cash.

As he was fleeing, the suspect reportedly struck an employee on the right side of her face with an unknown object. He was last seen heading eastbound behind Pier 1 Imports.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a black mask over his face along with an oversized white T-shirt and dark colored pants.
