Friday was National Bike to Work Day. Friday was National Bike to Work Day.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - If your coworkers were a little sweatier than normal Friday morning, there's a good reason for that.

Friday is National Bike to Work Day, an event in Knoxville brought cyclists together to spread the word.

Free coffee and biscuits as well as a few awards were handed out to people on their bikes in Market Square.

The gathering is a way to let people know how easy biking to work really is.

Organizers say the list of benefits is a long one.

"It gets you your physical activity and you don't have to go to a gym. You don't have to find time in your busy schedule or make time to go to the gym," said. "It's just a great way to see your community."

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero also presenting an award to the best dressed commuter.
