UNION COUNTY (WATE) - Police investigating reports of an intoxicated driver made an unexpected discovery when a traffic stop yielded 335 pounds of marijuana.

Sergeant Eric Logsdon with the Union County Sheriff's Office found the suspect vehicle on Highway 33 about 5:40 a.m. Saturday.

He pulled the driver over after observing the vehicle swerve several times.

While interviewing the driver, Logsdon noticed several packages inside the vehicle. That's when Logsdon's K9 partner Ceazor alerted authorities to the presence of narcotics.

The driver, Martin Urrutia Olmedo, 26 of Knoxville, was charged with manufacturing, delivering, selling, and possessing a controlled substance.

He was also charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license.

Olmedo is in the Union County jail without bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 24.
