Knox County Commission to vote on budget proposal

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Commission is expected to vote on Mayor Tim Burchett's proposed budget plan Monday afternoon.

The mayor unveiled his spending plan on May 1.

The budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year will have no tax increases, and also includes a cost of living adjustment for county employees.

The plan also fully funds the school board's $419 million spending request, which includes money for teacher raises, technology upgrades, and funding to hire 58 additional school resource officers.

The vote is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
