Sevierville takes steps to increase amusement tax

SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - The city of Sevierville took another step towards increasing the amusement tax on Monday.

The city alderman voted unanimously to increase that tax by 2 percent.

The city plans to use the money raised from increasing the tax to pay for tourist related expenditures.

They also passed a measure to decrease the lodging tax in the city from 3 percent to 2 percent.

However, the tax changes are not a done deal yet.  The third and final readings will be on June 3.
