KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tea Party members and supporters gathered in downtown Knoxville Tuesday to protest the IRS.

The agency has come under scrutiny recently by conservative and Tea Party groups, including the Roane County Tea Party.

Outside IRS offices, protesters held flags and signs with slogans critical of the president and the IRS.

Becky Ferguson brought her grandson and carried a sign that asked if he'd be the next target for the IRS.

"I'm here because I'm a conservative American, I love my country and I'm extremely scared for my country and the direction it is headed," said Ferguson.

Similar protests were held Tuesday at IRS offices around the country.
