Man injured after jumping off Pellissippi Parkway bridge


ALCOA (WATE) - A 38-year-old Louisville man is hospitalized after jumping off a bridge Wednesday.

According to the Alcoa Police Department, officers received a report of a man lying partially on a rocky bank area around 2:46 p.m. Investigators believe the man jumped off the Pellissippi Parkway bridge, which straddles the Blount and Knox County line.

Alcoa firefighters and the Blount County Rescue Squad were able to pull the man from the bank. They say the man had lacerations, but his injuries did not seem life threatening.

The victim was taken to the UT Medical Center where he is said to be in stable condition. His name is not being released pending notification of his family.
