KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville teen killed in a bicycle accident is being remembered as a young man who loved adventure.

Franklin Brown, 14, died on Friday after he was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle on Sullivan Road at Western Avenue.

Samantha Brown, Franklin's sister, said most people who knew him called him Frankie.

"When he was really little I would pretend to be a horse, and we did this for so many years," said Brown. "I would get on all fours and he would just jump on my back, and this one time we just tumbled down the stairs. I didn't tell my parents that."

Franklin was a student at Northwest Middle School. He would have started eighth grade this fall.

His sister says he was good at anything and loved things that rolled.

"He bought these roller skates" said Brown. "He didn't know how to roller skate. He never roller skated in his life. He put them on. He got out there and did it. He was like come look at me. I said I didn't want to look at you. I know you already mastered that."

Franklin leaves behind his parents and two older sisters.

"He loved adventure," said Brown. "He's on another adventure now."

Brown says her brother loved everyone, and will be greatly missed.

"I feel he wants everyone to know he does love everyone and he thanks everyone for anything," said Brown. "I love my baby brother. My parents love him. It's going to be hard."

Brown says her brother road his bicycle everywhere, and had gone through that intersection many times before. She said it was very close to their home.

Brown's funeral was held Monday at Weaver's Funeral Home on Western Avenue.

Brown will be buried at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to a report released Tuesday by the Knoxville Police Department,

According to witness statements and the officers' investigation, Brown was riding his bicycle on Sullivan Road when he attempted to cross Western Avenue.

He was hit by a Ryder rental truck driven by Yony Diaz, 33, of Doraville, Ga.

Police say Brown was not wearing a bicycle safety helmet.

No charges are expected to be filed.
