KNOXVILLE (WATE) - First lady Michelle Obama is inviting some local students to help her harvest the White House kitchen garden after they helped plant the seeds earlier this year.

Students from Sarah Moore Greene Elementary School attended the special event Tuesday afternoon, along with children from schools in the Northeast affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Knox County students were in Washington back in April to plant the summer crop with the first lady.

The school was chosen because of their work to get kids to eat healthier.

Specifically, the school was recognized for its revamped lunch menu's healthier recipes and the Jeffersonian heirloom garden that teachers use in conjunction with American history lessons.
